I put up the official notice a few months ago. But, much like Micheal Jordan, who retired from basketball twice and came back twice, I have decided to return. Right now in winter NJB, my team is 0-3, much like last winter NJB season. This is our bye week, so right now I've got the time to write this post. If memory serves right, the last time we were 0-3, last season, I wrote a huge speech about how we had to win. So we went out and won. But no speech this time. They finally got enough coaches to get our season underway. How do I know? The first way I knew is because my coach sent out an e-mail to tell us we were "The Heat". He also told us that he was trying to get us practice on Sunday in a gym. Dad sent an e-mail back to say when I was "open" for practice. He sent an e-mail back to say that practice was on Saturday. Me and Dad had to go to Los Altos for the practice, but we went anyway. One sign that told me that I was going to have a good time is how organized our coach was. It was a sign of things to come.

I had a great day. In our "two on two" game, I scored 10 points. In our "four on four" game, I scored another 8. It was a good end to a excellent day.

You know, I might actually have a great season on hand. It was the first time we had all season, but we failed to score. This was going to be the tempo of the game, lots of shots, no scoring. At the end of the first half the score was tied 10-10.

However, in the second half we began to pull away. By the fifth quarter, we were leading. I was determined to win. The game started, with me playing in the first quarter. Our team played well, and I stold the ball once. We left the court leading 9-7.

But their defense was relentless. Through the first 5 minues of the second quarter( we have 8 minute quarters), they held us to 9. We held them to 7.

And then we took over. We made good passes to a man when their defense wasen't guarding him. We started scoring and scoring. By halftime our lead was more than 2( I can't remember what the actual score was.)

After the halftime break, I was ready and rearing to go. And it showed, as I got the ball twice, and scored twice. By the end of the third quarter, we lead by a ton.

Our forth quarter team kept on going like we had. One of our players just kept getting the ball and scoring. Meanwhile, we were playing monster defense, stopping the drive and steeling the ball to give us a humongus lead.

In the fifth quarter it was like nothing could go wrong. And that was the thing. Nothing could go wrong.

I began to play great defense, going after the ball on every play and our team began playing great on both ends of the court. As I left the court with 3:57 seconds I congradulated myself on a great game. After all, we just won our very first win of the season!

Noting felt better than a win.

Normal Game, New Tension

Never before have I gone into a game with as much tension as this one. My NJB team is playing on Sunday, our forth game in a nine-game season. Sounds simple, right?

Well for obvious reasons it isn't a regular game. First of all, we're not in Los Gatos for this game. We will be in Evergreen. Second of all, I have not scored a basket in our last three games. I have been thinking of new ways to score and decided I would play good defense so I can steel the ball, and run downcourt to make a layup. Sounds easy to do, right?

Well, here's the big news. It's not. You can't magicly steel the ball and make a layup. It is hard to steel a ball and most people can't do it just by thinking they can.
